-Zelia Mullins-
Regular readers of the Prince Albert Friend will recall that last month it was reported that the Catholic community of Prince Albert had been left without a permanent place to worship as the land on which our church stands had been sold and that the new owner would not allow us to hold services there any longer.
This month it gives me great joy to report that our heavenly Father has indeed heard our cries for help and although we do not yet have a new permanent home, we do have a lot to be grateful for.
Firstly, we would like to thank Father Pieter Minnaar, Andrew and Ailsa Tudhope who generously offered us the use of St John’s Anglican Church. A word of thanks also goes to Lorna Verran in making enquiries about the possible use of the “bidhuis”. Finally, we would like to thank Gary and Lisa Smith who have selflessly offered us a room at Onse Rus Guesthouse to use for mass and for storage of our altar and pews until we have a new church to call home.
I am also happy to report that the new owner has had a change of heart and has agreed to let us remove and replace the stained glass windows and the picture window designed by Leo Theron.
Although we might not have a physical building to call home we at least now have all the fixtures which can be used to build a new church, God willing. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and contact Zelia Mullins on 072 108 1987 or 023 541-1102 should you have ideas with regards to a permanent home for our church or a tiny piece of land we could buy to erect a new church. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
